WHAT IS AN OCCUPATIONAL LICENSE?

An occupational license grants the privilege of engaging in or managing any business, profession, or occupation within the City limits. Occupational licenses are valid from October 1 to September 30 of the following year.

Payment is due when application is submitted. Cash, check, MasterCard, and VISA are accepted.

After application is approved:
Occupational license will be mailed (US Postal Service) within 3 weeks. Commercial locations may take longer since additional approvals are required.

OCCUPATIONAL LICENSE APPROVAL PROCESS

Planning & Zoning Division
Reviews the application to ensure that each business is in the appropriate zoning district. Upon approval of the City application, the planner approves the municipal zoning for the Palm Beach County Occupational License.

Code Enforcement
Ensures each business is compliant with federal, state, and local regulations and inspections.

The Occupational License Specialist
Mails the City Occupational License, along with the application for the Palm Beach County Occupational License, to the business. The business is then responsible to apply for the County Occupational License.

OCCUPATIONAL LICENSES FACTS AND STATISTICS

There are currently 3800 occupational licenses in Palm Beach Gardens.
Approximately 800 new licenses are issued by the City per year.
Occupational licenses generate over $1 million dollars in revenue per year.
Occupational license fees range from $25 to over $50,000.
Occupational Licensing has its own professional organization - Florida Association of Occupational Licensing Officials (FAOLO)
