Planning Division

Planning in the City seeks to foster community pride and enhance quality-of-life by promoting arts and culture, furthering diversity and education, and protecting the natural environment.
Planning is responsible for conducting the review process of proposed developments, from concurrency to approval by City Council, and is part of the issuance of the Building Permit and Certificate of Occupancy process.
Other activities preformed by Planning include:
Maintaining development records and plans;
Implementing the City’s Comprehensive Plan;
Implementing the City’s Land Development Regulations;
Serving as liaison to the Art in Public Places Advisory Board;
Serving as liaison to the Planning, Zoning and Appeals Board;
Compliance with the Florida Statutes;
Processing annexation requests;
Conducting studies and plans related to the City’s long term planning efforts;
Coordinating with governmental agencies (i.e. Florida Department of Community Affairs (DCA), Palm Beach County, Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council, South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD), Palm Beach County School District, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).
The City of Palm Beach Gardens adopted its most recent Land Development Regulations (LDRs) in July of 2000. The LDRs provide standards, procedures and policies for development within the City. To view the LDRs, see Chapter 78 of the Code of Ordinances.

Following any official approval, and prior to the issuance of a Building Permit and Certificate of Occupancy, construction plans are reviewed for consistency with approved plans and with conditions of approval by the Development Compliance & Zoning Manager.
