As part of the criteria for the National Flood Insurance Program, it is necessary to notify all of the City’s residents of important flood and contact information once a year. Conducting this mailing provided a great opportunity to include a short survey for residents to give their opinion about the City and its services.
The survey instrument used was a modification of a general survey from the International City/County Managerment Association (ICMA). During the last week of June both the flood information as well as the survey was sent out to approximately 27,000 households. The response deadline was July 31, 2008, giving the residents approximately one month to complete the survey. Residents who wished to answer the survey questions could either use the paper copy sent to them or they could log onto the City’s website to fill out the survey electronically. After receiving all the surveys via mail and the internet, a compilation of all of the information is attached in a summary report. There were a total of 1,126 respondents. Of that total, 773 were mailed in or dropped off at City Hall and 353 were completed via the website. See Resident Survey Results |
