The mission of the Special Operations Bureau is to ensure the highest level of
service to the community by providing quality investigative and crime prevention
services, and enhancing the professionalism and educational development of all
employees.
Detective & Crime Scene Investigation

The Detective Division is responsible for investigating crimes and arresting
offenders. The Detective Division is also responsible for monitoring the Sexual
Predators/Offenders residing within the City limits.
The Crime Scene Unit within the Detective Division has investigators who process crime scenes and evidence along with identifying fingerprints.

Professional Standards

The Professional Standards and Training Division is responsible for enhancing the
professionalism and educational development all Department members. This division
facilitates and provides training for Department personnel, including entry level,
advanced, firearms, defensive tactics, and legal training and also offers safety
training to the public and local business employees.
The division also manages the National and State accreditation processes for the Department, researches and develops policies and procedures, performs Media Relations and Public Information Officer functions, assists with planning and research, conducts background investigations for new employees, and conducts Internal Affairs investigations.

S.W.A.T. & Hostage Negotiation Team

These teams are trained to respond to unusual occurrences throughout the City of Palm Beach Gardens. These occurrences may include barricaded subjects, armed
offenders, search warrants, civil disturbances, etc.
Tactical Operations
The Tactical Crime Unit is responsible for crime suppression, surveillance, high
visibility patrols and to police areas requiring additional attention in response
to crime analysis. The Tactical Crime Unit welcomes tips on information regarding
criminal or suspicious activity.
Dive Team

The department dive team has nine (9) members. They are responsible for underwater
search and rescue diving.

Citizens Mobile Patrol
The Palm Beach Gardens Police Department welcomes City residents, 25 years of age or older, to join the Citizens Mobile Patrol (CMP) and be additional "eyes and ears" for the Police Department.

Knight Watch Program
Police Officers patrolling the midnight hours will select random businesses throughout their tour of duty to complete a more in depth inspection of the closed business. Officers will leave behind a "Knight Watch" card indicating crime prevention tips for the business owner to review upon opening. Sponsoring businesses' logo will be printed on the Knight Watch card.
Businesses interested in sponsoring this program are welcome to contact the Community Involvement Unit at 561.799.4565.

Senior Citizen Safety Talks is a public relations program to enhance seniors' safety and awareness against such crimes as frauds, scams, car jacking, personal attack, etc.
Homeowners Association Meetings
Homeowners Association Meetings create interaction between police officers and homeowner associations in order to formulate partnerships that promote public welfare and safety.

Bullying Prevention
A school-based curriculum designed to prevent bullying.
DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education)

This is a school-based curriculum targeting at fifth (5th) grade students to teach
them the harmful effects of, and the social skills needed to avoid drug usage.
DARE also include components of gang (s) and violence prevention.
Good Touch / Bad Touch (Child Molestation Prevention)
This is an awareness program for younger and older children, to help them
recognize and prevent someone from touching them inappropriately.
Kid Fingerprinting

This program is designed to educate families about child safety by providing a
personal safety document that will store a child's photograph and fingerprint for
the parent.

PAL (Police Athletic League)

PAL is a recreation-oriented juvenile crime prevention program that relies heavily
on athletics and recreation activities to create and cement the bond between
police officers and the kids on the street. Currently the Palm Beach Gardens
Police Department PAL is offering the following sports program: street hockey.
PAL is based on the strong belief that children, if they are reached early enough, can develop a strong, positive attitude towards police officers in their journey through life towards the goal of adulthood and good citizenship.

Police Department Tours

Tours are provided to many groups youngsters and adult to show the working
operations of the police department.
Police Explorers

The Police Explorer program is chartered through the Boy Scouts of America and is
for young men and women who are interested in law enforcement training, community
service and recreation programs. The Explorers receive training on a regular
basis to familiarize themselves with the law enforcement career and to prepare for
Explorer competitions against other law enforcement Explorer posts from around
the State.
TIP (Truancy Interdiction Program)
This is a unique program to take truants under 18 years off the street during
school hours, place them back into an educational environment and reduce potential
crime and juvenile delinquency. The juvenile, who is transported to the truancy
center in Palm Beach Gardens must be picked up by a parent or guardian.
