Senior Homestead Exemption

Your City Council recently adopted Ordinance 29, 2006, which implemented an additional $25,000 homestead exemption for low income senior citizens. To be eligible for this additional exemption, the homeowner must be a t least 65 years of age, and have household earnings of $23,463 or less for 2006 ( this amount is adjusted annually for inflation). To apply, a sworn statement of household income must be filed by March 1 of each year with the property appraiser.
