Dance Recital Program 2019-2020 Information

Thank you for your interest in our recital-based dance program offerings in  Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop, and Contemporary. Classes are offered for ages 3-19. Each participant’s level of dance is determined by their age, ability and the instructor’s recommendation. If you are unsure of which class is right for your child, please leave your name and phone number at our service desk along with your child’s name, age and past dance experience. One of our instructors will contact you to discuss your class options and make their recommendation.

Recital classes begin the week of Monday, August 26, 2019, and end on the date of the last recital performance, Saturday, May 9, 2020.

Dance Open House

If you need help choosing the right class for your child, please join us for our Dance Open House. Our dance instructors will be available to confirm your class selections or to help you decide.  This year the Dance Open House will be held on the following day and time:

Saturday, August 24  |  11:00am-1:00pm  |  Burns Road Community Center Gym

What differentiates Recital Dance from Recreational Dance Classes?

Recital dance classes require a 9-month commitment of attending weekly classes that end with our annual recital. The recital consists of  2 performances (see days and times below). Parents of our younger students will be urged to help us during recital time. They will attend both rehearsals and assist backstage during one of the two shows.  Recital students will receive one Studios Dance T-shirt during the first week of their class.

We also offer recreational dance classes for those that cannot make a 9-month commitment to regular attendance and recital preparations. Please inquire at our service desk or visit for other options.

How much do classes cost?

The recital dance fees are based on $14 per week for residents and $18 per week for non-residents for 45 minute or one-hour classes. Classes that run 1.25-1.5 hours will cost residents $18 per week per class/ non-residents $23 per week per class. Additional classes may be added for the same fees. For your convenience, students are registered once and remain in their dance classes through the dance recital in May. At the time of registration, fees are calculated based upon the number of weeks the class meets, up to and including our dance recital on May 8-9, 2020. The Wednesday - Saturday classes do not meet at BRCC on May 6-9 during Recital Rehearsals; we meet at  the theatre.

The chart below lists the fees associated with classes by the day of the week.

Mon (extended time)32
Wed (extended time)33
Thu (extended time)32

How do we register and pay for classes?

Registration for the 2019-2020 recital dance classes must be done in person.

At the time of registration, you will need to pay your first monthly installment for each class you register for as well as the Theatre Package.  Each month from September through April, we will debit your credit card on file for your monthly installment. We request all dance families have a credit card on file. Please remember to keep your credit card information updated with our office. If a card is declined, it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to make payment within 24 hours of notification.

We do not issue credits or refunds unless a dance teacher is ill or the Recreation Department must cancel a class for some reason. You will be notified by phone in the event this happens. Please update your contact information each year so that we may contact you for class cancellations or important messages.

In the event of extended illness, injury or religious observance, class credits may be offered.

How much are the dance costumes for the recital?

Each recital class has its own costume.

Pre-School Classes: Tiny Toes and Ballet Beginner I will pay $60+ tax costume fee. All other recital classes will pay $65 + tax per costume.

NOTE: Since our Pre-Pointe & Pointe classes are instructed in both ballet and pointe, these students may be asked to order 2 costumes for their one class. One for their ballet dance and one for their pointe dance. If possible, we will use costumes from previous years, but this is contingent upon the theme of the show and number of costumes in our inventory.

What is the “Family Theatre Package”?

The required “Family Theatre Package” fee includes all theatre related expenses and your dance recital theatre tickets for both performances in May.  The fee is $75.00 for the package. (The number of theatre tickets is determined by the total enrollment in our program as seats are limited in the theatre.  It is typically 5-7 tickets for each performance). This fee is paid only one time per family, regardless of how many children are in the program.

When do we have to pay for the “Family Theatre Package”?

The “Family Theatre Package” will be due at registration.

When do we have to pay for recital costumes?

All recital costume fees are due no later than November 1, 2019. The fee for costume(s) will be added to your household account as a pending charge at the time of registration. You will be reminded of these fees on October 15th  when they will be charged to your account.

If, for any reason, costumes or tuition are not paid on time; late fees may be added to your account.

When do we get our dance recital theatre tickets?

Dance tickets are distributed by the Theatre Box Office at the end of April through the first week in May. You will be notified by email when the tickets are available for pickup.

Tickets are for reserved seats. There is no open seating at the theatre. Please be sure to come to the box office when the dates and times are sent out. First come, first served. All seats are good seats, but there is an orchestra and a balcony. Handicapped seating is available, if needed. Look for an email and flyer in March so you can put this important information in your calendars.

If you are unable to get to the box office, you may designate a friend or family member to pick up the tickets for you. You will need to let us know who will be coming in your place.

Please be reminded, families need to have a $0 household balance with no outstanding charges on their dance account to receive the recital tickets.
