How to Establish a Quiet Zone in North County

  • The quiet zone will include all 26 Crossings From 23rd Street to the County Line.
  • Each Municipality will be responsible for submitting all rail crossing quiet zone requests to the Federal Rail Administration (FRA) within their municipal boundaries, regardless of ownership.
  • Each Municipality is responsible to perform the Quiet Zone calculator on all crossings within their municipality and install additional supplemental safety measures, if necessary.
  • TPA to aid in the submittal to the FRA.
  • TPA to pay for any additional supplemental safety measures required to meet the quiet zone establishment.

Train horns still may be sounded in emergencies or to comply with other RR or FRA Rules!!!!!

From County Line Road in Tequesta to 23rd Street in West Palm Beach there are twenty-six total crossings.

Palm Beach Gardens Locations and Requirements

1. Donald Ross Road- Additional supplemental safety measures (additional signage)

2. Hood Road- Additional supplemental safety measures (additional signage; add longer gate)

3. RCA Road- Additional supplemental safety measures (additional signage; relocate & add longer gate)

4. Burns Road- Additional supplemental safety measures (additional signage; add longer gate; remove redundant gate)

5. Lighthouse Drive- Additional supplemental safety measures (additional signage; remove redundant gate)

All Aboard Florida (Brightline) Update

  • Construction to be completed by December 2022 to Orlando
  • Testing will begin on January 17, 2022 on open tracks
  • Full service is scheduled to begin January 2023  

Quiet Zone Establishment Schedule

  • Municipalities to submit Notice of Intent to Establish a Quiet Zone by November 2022. All supplemental safety measures must be installed.
  • Municipalities to submit Notice of Establishment of the Quiet Zone by March 2023
  • Quiet Zone to begin March 2023
