Leaders in EMS
Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue is a leader in Emergency Medical Services with some of the best cardiac arrest resuscitation rates in the country. Our agency was the first in Palm Beach County to receive the American Heart Association's "Mission: Lifeline" Gold Award. This award is given to Fire and EMS agencies that meet strict guidelines when treating patients suffering a heart attack.
Additionally, our agency was the first agency in Palm Beach County to implement a Sepsis Alert Program. This program calls for paramedics to recognize and aggressively treat patients with sepsis in order to decrease the high mortality rates associated with septic shock.
We credit our success to our highly educated and trained personnel and our progressive evidence-based medical protocols.
ISO Rating
The Insurance Services Office, Inc. (“ISO”) uses the Fire Suppression Rating Schedule (“FSRS”) to measure the major elements of a community's fire suppression systems and develops a numerical grading called a Public Protection Classification (“PPC”). The FSRS considers three main areas of a community’s fire suppression system: emergency communications, fire department (including operational considerations), and water supply. In addition, it includes a Community Risk Reduction section that recognizes community efforts to reduce losses through fire prevention, public fire safety education, and fire investigation. The PPC rating represents the effectiveness of the fire protection in a community and most U.S. insurers of home and business properties use ISO’s PPC in calculating premiums. ISO rates fire departments with a PPC of 1 to 10.
Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue has been notified by ISO that, effective September 1, 2019, the City of Palm Beach Gardens has been awarded a Public Protection Classification of 2, which is the highest rating ever earned by the Department. As a resident or business owner in Palm Beach Gardens, you should contact your insurance company for more information on how this impacts your fire insurance rates.
