On January 17, 2014, the Palm Beach Gardens Women's Club and the City celebrated Arbor Day 2014. On that beautiful Friday morning, the president of the Woman's Club opened the ceremony by welcoming Mayor Bert Premuroso, Vice Mayor Eric Jablin, Council Members, David Levy, Joe Russo and Marcie Tinsley, City Manager, Ron Ferris, the children from the City's Riverside Youth Enrichment Center and City staff to the 15th Arbor Day at the PBG Woman's Club Honor Park at Lake Catherine Park.
Mayor Premuroso read the Arbor Day Proclamation proclaiming January 17, 2014 Arbor Day and presented the Proclamation document to the PBG Women's Club. This year the PBG Women's Club donated the Florida Lilac Tree to the City. City Forester, Mark Hendrickson, provided a few tree facts about the Florida Lilac tree.
David Reyes, Director of Parks and Public Facilities attended with Parks Staff who care for the trees all year and secure the Triple Adonidia Palm seedlings donated by James Landscape Design. For the tree planting ceremony, all the gold shovels were lifted with soil by adults and kids alike to establish the Florida Lilac tree as the 2014 Arbor Day tree.
