S.T.E.A.M. Camps

Register online or in person at any Palm Beach Gardens Recreation service desk.

STEAM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math.Children can begin putting the real-world pieces together that they have learned throughout the school year and start applying those principles in a fun and engaging manner. A STEAM approach allows your child to explore different areas of study and provides them with an understanding of how each subject is connected. Consider a STEAM focused summer camp for your child!

STEAM/Sensory Camp

The Riverside Youth Enrichment Center offers STEAM/Sensory Camp for children going into VPK* and Kindergarten. This camp will focus on STEAM and sensory activities that are both educational and fun! The children will participate in many hands-on and fun challenges that stimulate real world problem-solving and intellectual learning. Please bring a packed lunch, snacks and drinks. Organized programming will begin at 9am.

  • Age: *4-6 (by June 1, 2020)
  • The Palm Beach County Health Department requires a Florida immunization record to be on file with RYEC before attending camp. A copy of your child’s birth certificate may be requested at registration.
  • Location: Riverside Youth Enrichment Center, 10170 Riverside Drive

Advanced Robotics & Coding (a Mad Science camp)

Campers learn how robotics and coding works in our world today and how these technologies continue to affect our future! They will engage in the mechanical aspects of robots, with gears, gear ratios, torque, hydraulics, and pneumatics through hands-on activities building gear sets, operating a robotic arm, and building their own Kingii dragon to take home. Campers will be introduced to the world of coding/computer programming with Mission: Code. Campers create a robot, then provide a set of instructions (code) to solve each level. Each coding session provides a fundamental skill set including algorithms, functions, relative directions and sequences. The best part – the fun can continue at home as children will have access to Mission: Code. Campers will need to bring a laptop or tablet with access to Google Chrome. Mad Science programming is from 9am to 3pm. Activities from 7:30-9am and 3-6pm provided by PBG Recreation Staff. Campers will swim on Thursday.

"Fizz"ical Science (a Mad Science camp)

What’s the mystery all about? Find out all about cool chemistry. Campers explore the basics of chemistry with some radical reactions and slippery slime! Want to know who stole the ice cream? Become a detective and use evidence and clues to catch the crook. After we’ve fingerprinted the felon with our own Personal Profiler, we’ll celebrate by making and eating our own ice cream! Crack codes, get crazy with chemistry, and make your own chocolate candy! Mad Science programming is from 9am to 3pm. Activities from 7:30-9am and 3-6pm provided by PBG Recreation Staff. Inventors & Explorers (a Mad Science camp)

Creative Contraption Warning! This is a camp designed by you -the Inventor! Each day campers are given a series of challenges which must be overcome by using basic materials, simple machines, tips from world famous Inventors and the most important thing of all – the mind! With a little bit of ingenuity, campers construct catapults and forts and then lay siege, fabricate a winning Egg Drop design, construct a dancing robot and assemble a working light saber to take home. While Thomas Edison said invention is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration, this camp is 100% fun! Mad Science programming is from 9am to 3pm.
