Requirements for Building / Unit Addressing and Signage (13)

Per Florida Fire Prevention Code “FFPC” 6th Edition, NFPA1:10.11.1.1 - New and existing buildings shall have approved address numbers placed in a position to be plainly legible and visible from the street or road fronting the property.

Per NFPA1:10.11.1.2 – Address numbers SHALL contrast their background.

Per NFPA1:10.11.1.3 – Address numbers SHALL be Arabic numerals or alphabet letters.

Per the Palm Beach Gardens City Code, Section 78-275 – the size of an address on a commercial building SHALL NOT be less than 8” or EXCEED 12” in height, the size of the address on the monument sign shall be 8”.

Per NFPA1:10.11.1.4 – When the EXTERIOR address for multiple units to a building which is for businesses, the address of each unit SHALL BE 6” in height.

Per the AHJ, on all commercial buildings – the INTERIOR suite number SHALL NOT be less than 4” or EXCEED 6” in height.

Per the Palm Beach Gardens City Code, Section 78-275 – for exterior suite addresses of  buildings such as condominiums, apartments and similar buildings; the suite address number SHALL NOT be less than 4” or EXCEED 6” in height.

Per the FFPC” 6th Edition, NFPA1:13-7.3.3.9: All non-monitored Fire Alarm Systems shall have permanent signage installed next to every pull stations with 1” RED lettering stating: LOCAL ALARM ONLY, Activate Alarm, Exit Building, DIAL 911.

Porte Cochere height signage lettering & numbering shall be a minimum 2”.

Clearance 13’6”.

Per the AHJ, when existing buildings undergo major renovations to a particular floor or the building itself, the addressing shall be brought up to the current requirements listed above.
