Pickleball Volunteers Drive Program’s GrowthThe City’s Pickleball program continues to thrive as the City has fully embraced the feverishly growing sport. The construction of 6 outdoor pickleball courts was recently completed at the new Russo Athletic Complex adjacent to the City’s Tennis Center on 117th Court North. There are now 12 courts in Palm Beach Gardens parks (six were built at Lilac Park last year), with plans to add another six by the end of 2017. Palm Beach Gardens is quickly becoming a pickleball destination and, with 18 courts, will attract high-profile tournaments.
We are lucky to have a group of volunteers who have been instrumental in the success of the Pickleball program. These selfless community members have worked hand-in-hand with City staff members to expand the City’s Pickleball offerings and establish best practices. Martha and Bob Gilbert, John Cioffoletti and Greg Chetta pour countless hours into promoting the game throughout the Palm Beach Gardens community, running Pickleball lessons and leagues, and making the City’s annual Pickleball tournament, the Battle for the Brick, a huge success. Thank you to Martha, Bob, John, and Greg for their enthusiasm for the game and its growth in Palm Beach Gardens.
