July is Park and Recreation MonthThis July, the City of Palm Beach Gardens and the National Recreation and Park Association are celebrating A Lifetime of Discovery as the theme of National Park and Recreation Month. Go to PBGREC.COM to explore the “undiscovered” roles of your local Leisure Services Department that offers a variety of fun activities for residents and guests of all ages and abilities. On Sunday, July 1st, the first 80 patrons to arrive and request a BOGO pass will receive one free admission with one paid admission to the Splash into the 4th at the PBG Aquatic Complex on Wednesday, July 4th.

Splash Into the 4th!Wednesday, July 4 | 10am - 4pm PBG Aquatic Complex Splash Zone, 4404 Burns Road Cool off on a hot Fourth of July at the PBG Aquatic Complex SPLASH ZONE and enjoy the diving board, 2 enclosed slides, rock climbing wall, splash playground and spray play areas, or just swim a few laps in our lap pool. There will be music, games and fun activities for the kids, as well as refreshing snacks available for purchase at the Splash Shack on the pool deck. Pool admission fees are $3.30 PBG Residents/$10.40 Non-residents (tax not included)

4th of July Operating HoursCity Hall offices will be closed on Wednesday, July 4th, and our Leisure Services facilities will have amended hours of operation in celebration of the holiday. Click on this link for the schedule at each facility. We hope you have a very safe and fun Fourth of July!

Check out our Leisure Services ProgramsThe summer issue of the Gardens Life brochure is available and contains detailed information regarding Leisure Services classes, programs and events offered by the City of Palm Beach Gardens for the months of May through August. Download a copy or pick one up at any service desk, as well as many other locations throughout the city. Registration for classes may be done online or in person.
Don’t wait until the first day of class to register! Sign up in advance so classes don't get cancelled due to low enrollment.

Camp Gardens 2018 We’ve had lots of fun with such a great variety of camps so far this summer! There are still a few spaces left in some of our weekly camps, so sign up before they fill. Camps with current vacancies include: S.T.E.M. for 4/5 year olds - Vocal Vibrations - Stop Motion Animation - Inventors & Explorers - Make A Masterpiece - Wild Adventures - Express Yourself - Rhythm & Soul - Film Making - Wired! - Basketball - Fishing - Soccer - Skate Jam - Tennis -Aquatics - Sports R Us - Classic Camp: Marlins (age 7-8) and Panthers (age 11-13)

Youth Summer Dance ClassesAges 3-19 Keep active and stay on top of those dance skills through the summer with our recreational dance classes. We have our second session of summer classes beginning the first and second weeks of July. Enjoy different levels of Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop, Jazz & Contemporary, Leaps/Turns/Tricks/Flexibility, and even a Leaps & Bounds class for children as young as 3. Classes take place on weekday evenings and Saturdays. Visit our website for schedules, fees and a complete description of youth recreational dance classes.

Futsal (Indoor Soccer)Ages 7-18 Is it too hot to play soccer outdoors? No problem! Futsal is a fast-paced, street style form of soccer that continues to grow in popularity and it’s offered indoors at the Burns Road Recreation Center. Play happens on Wednesdays and Fridays (no July 4) from 6:15-8pm through August 10. Sign up for the rest of the session or drop in for $10 residents/$13 non-residents.

Stay Cool while you Work OutAs it heats up outside, head indoors or to the pool to get your workout in. Indoors in the A/C we have Yoga, Boot Camp, Zumba, and Stroller Power (HIIT it, In the Middle, Intense Intervals); or try Water Aerobics in the refreshing outdoor pool. Adults 55 and over can stay cool, socialize and have fun with a variety of games and activities throughout the week at our Lakeside Center from 1-5pm each day. Play BINGO, Scrabble, Mah Jongg, Canasta, Social Bridge, Duplicate Bridge, Rummy, Mexican Train Dominoes and more! Newcomers are welcome and your first visit is free! Independence Mixed Doubles and Cook-outSaturday, July 7, 10:45am-3pm Join the fun! These events are growing in popularity and feature three rounds of 8-game Pro-set paired mixed doubles in ability-based groups. Trophies are awarded to main-draw winners and finalists, and to consolation winners. After play, we’ll be firing up the grill for July 4th-style hamburgers and hot dogs (plus anything else you might care to bring and throw on!). Activity #232101-2D. Love Serving Autism Red Ball Rally EventSaturday, July 28 | 3-5pm Love Serving Autism provides a specialized therapeutic program focusing on tennis. We are teaming up with the USTA Net Generation Team Tennis Challenge event. The event is an introduction to tennis competition offering a low-pressure team environment for the participants, without an emphasis on instruction or results. All ages are welcome and there is no admission fee!

Now is the Time to Learn to Swim! According to figures released by the USA Swimming Foundation, drowning is the leading cause of unintentional death in children ages 1-4 nationwide and Florida leads the nation as the state with the most child drownings in 2017. Don’t let this happen to your child!
The Learn to Swim program provides swim lessons for all levels and ages starting at 6 months old. The next session of our Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday lessons will be held in the mornings and afternoons starting July 16. Our Saturday classes include Adaptive Aquatics for those with special needs, Adult Beginners and Parent/Tot classes, which also begin in July. Makos Swim Team is a Great, Year-round Activity The swim team is for swimmers ages 4-17 of different skill levels and combines stroke refinement, drills, endurance training, and fun games to improve a swimmer’s overall swimming abilities in a fun, team environment. We compete against other teams in the South Florida Recreational Swim League. For those who are interested in the swim team, come and get evaluated by our swim coaching staff. S.T.E.M. Camp for ages 4* and 5!*Must be 4 by September 1, 2018 Enjoy FUN and LEARNING all in one really cool, half-day camp for 4 & 5 year olds! S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Camp runs July 16-20 from 9am-Noon and we still have a few spaces available. Children will participate in many hands-on and fun challenges that stimulate real world problem-solving and intellectual learning. Resident/Non-resident Fees are $125/$157.
