The Studios at Palm Beach Gardens announces a brand-new adult art program:
DRAWING FUNDAMENTALS WITH CRAIG MCINNIS
Learn the basic elements of effective drawing including line, shape, form, texture, value and space in a fun and interesting way. More advanced techniques and skills such as anatomy, portraiture and perspective will also be explored. Classes will be held Mondays, November 5-December 10 from 10am-Noon at Burns Road Recreation Center, 4404 Burns Road. Resident/Non-resident fees for the 6-week class are $180/$225. Supply list is available at registration but don’t delay; pre-registration is required, either online or in person.
FREE TAI CHI CLASSESReset your mind, body, and spirit with free Tai Chi classes on Sunday Mornings from 8-9am at Veterans Plaza Amphitheater outside City Hall, 10500 N. Military Trail. Tai Chi is a great way to improve balance, heart health, and ease stress. Classes run every Sunday morning until May. No need to sign up; just show up and enjoy. The City will provide the ham and turkey, so adults ages 55+ are invited to join us by signing up at the front desk no later than Wednesday, November 14 and then bring your favorite savory or sweet dish to serve 8 people. We will have a variety of board games that you always wanted to play or wanted to learn!

CONGRATULATIONS!The City of Palm Beach Gardens has been awarded the USTA Florida Member Organization of the Year Award! This award is given to organizations that exemplify service to the community, its members through adult and junior programs, and service to the game of tennis. This service has been developed through our comprehensive and inclusive programming, where we currently offer or have offered an array of opportunities to tennis players of all abilities and ages. The award will be presented during the 69th Annual Meeting & Tennis Celebration Weekend at the Orlando Airport Marriott Hotel in Orlando, Florida, on Sunday, November 18, 2018.

THANKSGIVING AQUATICS CAMPAges 6-11 | November 19-21 | 10am – 4pmThe kids are out of school the days before Thanksgiving but we can help you keep them entertained at the Aquatic Complex! This 3-day swim camp includes fun water activities, crafts, stroke instruction and more. Don’t worry about the time of year – the pool is heated! JUMPSTART’S READ FOR THE RECORD®On Thursday, October 25th, Riverside Youth Enrichment Center participated in “Jumpstart’s Read for the Record 2018”, a national event to kick-off the annual campaign to raise awareness of the early literacy crisis. The City’s Mayor, Council, City Manager, Police and Fire Chiefs, Deputy City Manager and Leisure Service Deputy Administrator read this year’s book, Maybe Something Beautiful by F. Isbell Campoy & Theresa Howell, to over 100 children. This year’s book was also available in Spanish, which the City’s Deputy Leisure Services Administrator read to the VPK kids. We are preparing our students to love reading!
