The 13th Army Band Florida National Guard will perform during and after the ceremony and there will be a Gold Star Families Memorial Marker Dedication. ‘CARVE THE PARK’ SKATE JAM 

DATE CHANGE: Now Friday, November 22 | 6-9pm 
Gardens Skate Park, 10113 Plant Drive 

Grab your skateboards and get ready to ‘Carve the Park’ at the Gardens Skate Park! Show us your board skills for a chance to win some sick new gear at this FREE, all ages event! Several divisions determined by skill provides every skater an opportunity to compete for the top prizes. After the Jam, all participants can chow down on some pizza and drinks.

SEEKING HEALTH, WELLNESS & RESOURCE VENDORS!

We are currently seeking vendors for the 2020 Health, Wellness & Resource Fair scheduled for Saturday, March 7, located at Burns Road Community Center from 9am – 2pm. We have 90 spaces to fill! Each vendor will receive a 10’ X 10’ space, and your business name will be included on our website with a link to your business website. Fee: $100/space; tables are available to rent with 2 chairs for an additional $25 (one table, two chairs); electricity is an additional $10. Tables are limited, so don’t delay – register today! FACILITIES CLOSED FOR THANKSGIVING 

All supervised Recreation facilities including Burns Road Community Center, Aquatic Complex, Tennis & Pickleball Center, Lakeside Center and Riverside Youth Enrichment Center will be closed on Thursday, November 28. The Tennis & Pickleball Center will reopen on Friday, November 29, but all other supervised Recreation facilities will remain closed. We hope you enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday!

NOVEMBER SCHOOL’S OUT CAMPS! 

There are several days off school this month, but we’ve got you covered for care on Monday, November 11 and Monday - Wednesday, November 25-27. We’ll keep them active and entertained with lots of fun games and activities in either School’s Out Camp (2nd-8th grade), School’s Out Juniors (PreK4-1st grade) or PBG Predators Soccer Camps (ages 5-14). Give your dancer the experience needed to excel at an audition by attending this mock dance audition run by former Bak Middle School of the Arts dance teacher, Carlos deBarros, who has 15 years of experience. Learn what it takes to audition for your local arts school, gain confidence and receive valuable feedback on your technique to see where your strengths and weaknesses are, and hear key audition tips to improve your success rate. Pre-registration is required; register online or at the front desk. Resident/Non-Resident Fee: $50/$60.

TRAINING SESSIONS AT THE GARDENS SKATE PARK

Learn how to maneuver your way around our skate park like a pro. Instructors from All Out Skate will work with skaters of all levels to increase their skills and confidence on the board. Lessons run from 9:30-10:30am for ages 6-14; $25 for residents and $29 for non-residents.

DECLUTTER 101

DRAWING FUNDAMENTALS 

Did you know that sketching strengthens focus and strategic thinking? THANKSGIVING POT-LUCK LUNCH & GAMES

“Fall” into the autumn spirit at our annual Thanksgiving Pot-Luck! Bring your favorite sweet or savory dish that feeds about 8 people and the City will provide the turkey and ham. We will have a variety of board games that you always wanted to play or learn, which is a great opportunity for you to meet some new friends! Since this is such a popular event, please pre-register at the front desk by November 15. Cost is $5 for Lakeside Club members and $10 for non-members.

ITF WORLD TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS –  
CONGRATS TO DOROTHY WASSER & TEAM! 

Gardens resident Dorothy Wasser, a stalwart on the Tennis Center Women’s A-1 Palm League Team and a nationally successful competitor in Women’s 80+ competition, reminds us of the success of the U.S. women’s 80 team at the ITF Women’s World Team Championships, held during September in Umag, Croatia. The team won silver medals for second place in the team event for USA. Dorothy also won gold in world individual doubles with Burnette Herrick, and bronze in singles. The other U.S. teams added gold in W65, W70, and W85, as well as another silver in W75. Congratulations to all!  

NEW! THE FIT FOUR

For serious tennis players already at a high level of fitness, our pro, Mark Taylor, will provide a 1½ -hour program of fitness, drills and strategy on Sundays, 9:30-11am and Wednesdays, 6-7:30pm. Commitment is one class at a time. Fees are $41/$36/$33 for Non-Res/PBG Res/PBGTC Passport Holder (4 Students) or $55/$48/$44 (3 Students). Pre-enrollment is required. Preference will be given to self-selected groups of four. Individuals may be considered if their level of play is compatible with a forming group seeking a fourth. Additional days/times may be made available as demand requires. (Takes the place of the HITT drop-ins.)

AMERICAN RED CROSS
LIFEGUARD TRAINING  

Ages 15+ | November 23 – 26 | 9am – 4pm 

Do you or someone you know want to become a lifeguard? This course will teach the skills and knowledge necessary to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies as a professional lifeguard. Visit our website for all the class details and requirements or to register.

NEW AQUA FITNESS CLASSES!

We’re excited to offer 2 new types of Aqua Fitness classes: Aqua Yoga takes place on Thursdays from 10-11am and is a gentle form of yoga where your joints are supported for free movement and the water acts as resistance to strengthen muscles. We are also now offering Aqua Zumba on Fridays from 10-11am, which is an invigorating aqua aerobics class with a Latin flavor added. Classes are only $4 for PBG residents and $5 for non-residents. No registration is required; just drop-in, pay and start exercising!

JUMPSTART’S READ FOR THE RECORD®

On Thursday, November 7th, Riverside Youth Enrichment Center will participate in Jumpstart’s Read for the Record® 2019. Read for the Record® is a national campaign that was launched over a decade ago to address the educational inequities that leave too many children unprepared for kindergarten. This year’s book selection is the award-winning Thank You, Omu! by debut author-illustrator, Oge Mora. The City’s Mayor, Council, City Manager, Deputy City Manager, Police and Fire Chiefs will read this year’s book to over 100 children. We are preparing our students to love reading!
