GreenMarket Highlights

DATEHIGHLIGHT
Feb 2

The Highwaymen
Celebrate Black History Month with legendary artist, R.A. McLendon. For 60 years, Floridians have embraced a renowned group of African American artists known as The Highwaymen. Selling their colorful works of art along the road, The Highwaymen developed a rapid style of painting that captured a romantic vision of Florida. Meet and greet artist R.A. McLendon, a key member of the 26 original Highwaymen, who will be painting on site. Art collector Roger Lightle will also have a large display of original paintings for sale.

Feb 9

Abstract Painting in a Digital World with Kim Coker
Observe and learn how to create a vibrant painting using abstract and digital techniques. Market-goers will be able to make their own exciting, abstract work of art by using acrylic or oil paint, and a smart phone (or digital camera).

Feb 16Rhythmic Gymnastics

The Palm Beach Rhythmic Gymnastics Club Team will combine dance and exercise in an adrenaline fueled routine at 10 a.m. Interested in joining the program? Visit our Youth Enrichment page on www.pbgrec.com to sign up! Instructors will also be available after the show to answer any inquiries.

Feb 23Sewing for Sustainability with Resource Depot

The Sew for Sustainability Project helps to reduce the troubling amount of single-use plastic bags in our environment by creating handmade, reusable bags from reclaimed fabric donations. The project supports Resource Depot’s most basic educational message: refuse a one-use, throw-away lifestyle and choose sustainable solutions through repurposing and creative reuse. Market-goers can buy a bag to reuse, or try making their own! All bags are made from upcycled materials and there is no sewing experience needed to make one.

The Gardens GreenMarket Mission Statement

The GreenMarket is a farmer’s market and public event with art, entertainment and food. This is accomplished by providing fresh, locally-grown produce to the community and encouraging the promotion of the agricultural industry. It also provides an informal, social gathering place in an open-air setting which promotes a sense of community and stimulates interaction among neighbors in the Northern Palm Beach County area. The Market is intended to be a combination of a "green" shopping opportunity and a cultural event.

Animals at the Market

Per City Ordinance Section 46-14, Pets and Animals: "No person shall bring or allow any pet or animal in any city park, except those assisting or aiding impaired or physically disabled persons."
